Who gives you products?
Instrument skateboards. Outer belt wheels from Columbus. Joe Dorsi hooks up Domestics Clothing and I get Etnies from the sole tech rep.

Who have you been skating with?
I've been skating a lot with Ian Jones lately. He got a new cam and he's always down to film so that helps a lot. I skate with Mat Frantz, Sam Steele, Joel Blazer and Gary Collins a lot too. A lot of homies have moved to Portland or elsewhere so I only get to skate with everyone when they're in town. I'm down to skate with anyone who shows up to the session.

Whats your set up?
My setup pretty much stays the same. I skate the Instrument 8.5 black logo deck, 52mm Outerbelt wheels, Indy 149s, and Bones Swiss bearings.

Where do you like to skate?
I like to skate all over Cincinnati. There's a lot too skate here. I like skating anywhere a session with friends can go down... Glencoe, D O's , flat or whatever. I like skating banks, ledges, mannys, wall rides, street gaps pretty much everything but jumping down big shit.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I'll be 30. I'll be doing the same thing, skating as much as possible and working. I'll probably have a house by that point. I don't know if I'll still be in Cincinnati still or not. I also see myself traveling a lot more at that point.

Who are some rippers you've been noticing coming up around Cincinnati?
There are a lot of rippers in Cincinnati. Theyre all over but coming up I'd have to say the three that pop into my mind are Zac Coyne, Bern Iseli, and Austin Pastura. The younger guys learn so quickly now it almost seems unreal.

What's the secret to to dating all those beautiful women?
Hahaha. Mystery sparks interest. Maybe im just lucky. I definately feel lucky.

Making noise volume 3 premiered last friday night and features the talents of Edward Kennedy, Taylor Nawrocki, Jordan West, Zac Coyne, Cody Heil, Gary Collins. Ian Storm, Kokomo Joe, Devin Abner and Cole Wilson. Make sure and check out the Midwest finest.

Originally, we left with plans of having a filmer and a photographer. the two guys who dropped off the trip were you guessed it. both filmer and photographer gone. oh well we packed up with a crew consisting of Jordan West, Zac Coyne, Cole Wilson, Gary Collins, Devin Abner, and Instrument Homie Brooks Shuping. So all we have as evidence is a couple pics from zacs Iphone. Suming up the trip, Cole and Brooks did a couple of raw ollies over a wheelchair bump, we watched a parade, ate funnel cakes, rode some carnival rides, drank about 60 beers, skating in extreme heat on blacktop, and checked out the design for their new park (which looks pretty tight) Thanks goes out to Jesse, Keith and Johnny d for bringing us up there, hopefully we ll be back soon.

The Instrument crew went up to the Come Together event at Skate-Naked saturday night. The event was a huge success. there were prob about 3 or 4 hundred heads there. So, recently there has been a wave of core skateshops closing their doors forever, (most notably Rise bloomington) How can the best shop in your town be closing? well the first reason is the internet. Skaters and their parents are more frequently taking the easy way out and mail ordering their goods from some superstore outlet bullshit internet company. These same parents are the ones who dont understand why there are no more jobs around. they're the reason once booming downtown storefronts are vacant. this is why your property values continue to drop. If you dont invest in your community, it will dry up. This is just skateboarding but it is a metaphor for all business. so this christmas, and for now on hopefully, take your money to a local retailer, get off your ass and drive to a skateboard shop, instead of shipping your money to some out of state no overhead internet store. trust me in the long run you will see an effect. And this isnt just some rant for sales, we're doing fine. Next time you go to an event put on by the local shop or company, walk up to the owner and or manager and tell them thanks. Do not send your money to another state to save 3 dollars. Support your local shop.

This is completely another subject but this is a message to the Skateboarders themselves. Stop sending your sponsor me tapes to companys you've never supported. Dont tell them you love their company if you filmed your whole part on blanks. Riding blanks ruins your chances of getting sponsored. No you dont owe them anything and vice versa, they dont owe you anything. Companys cannot afford to sponsor you if their boards are being outsold by generic blanks. Support companys that get you psyched to skate, that put on events in your town, and that give something to skateboarding, whether that be us or any other legit company. This starts with retailer also, why do you carry blanks? i'd love to know. info@skateinstrument.com

BLOCKPARTY AFTERMATH so far

Ok, so my photographer for the event was a no show somehow so i got a couple blackberry pics.. First the event was a huge blowout. there were prob around 500 heads throughout the day rolling threw. There were too many highlights to mention, but the biggest highlight i thought was the cops rolling up and trying to shut it down. Once they found out we had the proper permits, they had to bounce and the party raged on. the kegs were tapped early but everyone pitched in and there was plenty of drinks to go around. Thanks to everyone who came. For real, Everyone! Thanks to High School from Galaxie, Nick and Macko from Anonymous, Adam and Toby from Koncrete City, Joe from Blacklist, and Ali and Ryan from Able projects for all the help getting this rolling. Thanks to cricket and Devs mom for the help running the grill and beer booth. Thanks to DirtyC and Floyd for keepin the beats blasting all day.......we're gonna make a habit of this for sure. Big ups for the short video Andy Licardi put together...i'll post that real soon for those who missed it or forgot about it....Side note, grammers got double booked that night so our djs didnt get to rock. whatever i guess. Also Mayor Mark Mallory was at the after party.
Kyle Hummer went the distance and knocked out Cole Wilson for the Game of skate title and the duckets. Extra good look and breaking off second place a little something. Kyle killed it for sure. Not sure what all went down on the Galaxie obstacle, i did see ED and Devin fly over the whole thing.. that was insane. i heard jap did too. BLOCK PARTY UPDATES............................

Ok a few updates on the happenings for the Block party. First off thanks to all the area skateshops for reaching out to help. This includes Anonymous, Galaxie, Blacklist, and Koncrete City. All these shops are donating time and or money to make sure this is a huge success. The game of skate is scheduled to start around 4.30-5. i suggest making sure you come early and get signed up because there are only 32 spots and its free to enter. The Galaxie end of the contest will prob run throughout the day, and will be held on their super obstacle high schools been working on. There is gonna be some food and beer that will be provided by Blacklist and Koncrete city. while there will be a good amount, you are encouraged to bring your own as well. The five year tee and the new Terry cloth mesh hats will be released as well as super blowout prices on tons of other products. The new short video will be shown around dark with a slide show after. There will also be a board display showing all of our current and previous graphics. If you arent hip to Instrument, this will get you up to speed. Kokomo Joe will be flying in to meet and Greet, and the rest of the riders will be on site also, including Edward Kennedy, Devin Abner, Zac Coyne, Gary Collins, Jordan West, Cody Heil and hopefully Taylor Nawrocki. All day chill/skate session with beats provided by DirtyC and Floyd from ohio, and a possible guest set from DJ Clockwork. At nine we're gonna move to party over to Grammers at the corner of Liberty and Walnut where the of age people can keep it going. Thanks to everyone in advance for keeping all trash and whatnot in the right place. This is the first time anything like this has gone down and we look forward to keeping it going that way. This is an all ages thing, bring your friends, kids, parents, and whoever you want. Also you may want to bring some lawn chairs...........

Yes its true, we've made it to five years. this is a huge accomplishment so we're gonna do something special for it. Its gonna be a block party at 2017 elm street, in historic OTR. we've already received permission from the city to block off a side street, where we're gonna set up some boxes, Anonymous is gonna sponsor a game of skate for some dough, and Galaxie has vowed to build something specifically for this event. Cant wait to see what that ones gonna be like. We have a huge private lot where we're gonna have beer, food, and a slideshow of past and current Instrument riders, We will have the beats on all day with Dj DirtyC and Floyd from Ohio on the tables.
